Alexandre Darracq had financial trouble, and in 1910 the local entrepreneurs from Lombardy bought his bet, then called it Alfa, which name was an acronym for Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili. During World War I, the authorities forced the plant to take military production. In 1918 he took over the management of establishments engineer Nicola Romeo. Since his name was formed the second part of the name of Alfa Romeo.

In 1933, Alfa Romeo was bought by the state organization of the IRI (Instituto Riconstruzione Industriale), while retaining full autonomy.

To achieve this target the Italians intend to introduce new models. The first one, that is, Giulia, is to appear in the second half of 2015. In subsequent years, his debut has seven new models, all with rear-wheel drive.
